South Beach Phase 1 breakfast smoothie/milkshake/coffee things
I haven't tried all of these "smoothie" (more like milkshake or iced coffees) recipes but they all look amazing. Just wrapping up my week 1 of phase 1 and starting to crave smoothies (even though I rarely indulge when I'm off South Beach). Thank the diet gods for 3 fat chicks on a diet (links to specific threads included with each recipe).
Ah the strange things your body demands in phase 1......
1/4 cup cottage cheese
1/3 cup hot cocoa mix (see below)
1 packet splenda/stevia/sugar substitute (or less)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Pulse in the blender until the cottage cheese is smooth. Add 4 or 5 ice cubes and about 1 cup of water (or some type of milk) and blend until smooth.
Add a shot of espresso, and you have yourself a mocha cheesecake!
1 cup dutch process cocoa
1/2 cup powdered non dairy creamer
1/2 cup splenda
1+ tsp instant coffee
1 Tbsp baking cocoa powder
2+ Tbsp Splenda
1 cup 1% or fat free milk
(also can substitute 1/3 cup powdered non-fat milk w/ 1 cup of water)
4 tbsp Cool Whip Free (SBD friendly ph's 1,2,3) (optional)
Place all ingredients except cool whip in blender, crush until smooth consistency. Add 2 Tbsp Cool whip to blender, blend until combined. Pour drink into your tall plastic cup, top with remaining Cool Whip, stick in a straw and enjoy!!!

Phase 2 & 3 Green Banana shake
(inspired by Something Swanky's PB & Chocolate Green Smoothie)
Ingredient measurements are approximate and will vary by personal preference. Experiment and find your favorite mix. This should get you started for a single serving smoothie!
- 1 banana, sliced and frozen
(I like to take my about to turn into banana bread bananas, slice them into chunky coins and freeze them on a plate or sheet in the freezer. I place individual banana servings in bags or containers for quick smoothie or "ice cream" making) - 1/2 cup SB friendly milk
(I use unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk since that's what I usually have on hand) - 1 tbsp peanut butter (or any other nut butter)
- 1 large handful baby spinach
- 1 (or more) Tbs Cocoa Powder (OR you can use chocolate almond or soy milk if you've got it on hand)
